the journal

When someone who’s work you have admired since the beginning of your business asks you to shoot his wedding, you momentarily freak out, and then -of course- accept. Then freak out some more. Austin is a very talented videographer and photographer who shares Blueberry Creative with one of his best friends Adam. I met both of them years ago and we have built a friendship in the industry. I even second shot for them for some of their weddings!.

When Austin met Megan his life changed and he knew she was different. After countless trips back and forth from Wilmington to Charlotte, he asked for her to marry him at the romantic Biltmore Estate. You can see it all here. Getting to spend time with these two has been amazing. We braved the freezing cold for their Asheville engagement session. And when I say freezing, I mean it. Not only did these two stay super fun and positive, but they helped create some of my favorite images. I knew then that their wedding day was going to be amazing.

Since Austin is in the industry, it was fun to see the things that he did to make their wedding unique. From the artwork on the invitations- to the woodwork for their reception tables, he incorporated so much heart and talent into their day. Megan was no different. The location they chose is her family’s farm which has been in her family for many many generations. Her father, uncles, and family friends are all to thank for the amazing reception space. A lot of time, sweat, and heart went into transforming the space. Megan also incorporated her great grandmother’s ring, and even sat in her great grandmother’s chair at the reception. She also managed to pick out the most stunning dress I have ever seen. It was full of so much intricate beadwork, that I swear by bicep grew while I was carrying it.

I could go on and on about the beautiful flowers and ceremony + reception space that Gather Events created. They traveled for their wedding as well, and they pulled off such a beautiful wedding- I still don’t know how they did it all.

Since Adam was there to also capture their day, you can be sure that their wedding video will be amazing, and I am looking forward to watching it myself.

I so enjoyed this beautiful and heartfelt wedding, and I hope you do as well.
