Engagement session style guide

Long flowy dresses and skirts always photograph amazing. Feel free to dress it up for one of your outfits, or both! If you want one dressed up look and one more casual, that is great. An outfit incorporating jeans or shorts allows for additional posing. 



Long pants, button down shirts, and closed toed shoes photograph best. A blazer is always a great idea for a more polished look. 



- Avoid logos, as they can be distracting.
- Neutral colors such as beige, white, black, tan and grey complement your skin tones and don’t conflict with common background elements. I love color too though, so feel free to reach out when in doubt. 
- Don't be afraid to mix patterns and textures. This gives the images more interest. 
- Wear clothing that fits properly. A proper fit that allows you to move and feel comfortable will help you look more confident in your photos. Avoid having to worry about sticky tape, unwanted straps, or wardrobe malfunctions.
- Wear minimal jewelry for your portrait. Jewelry that you wear on a daily basis is fine, but I prefer not to have you accessorize and add extra jewelry that you usually wouldn’t wear. If anything, it should be kept simple, and its color should be neutral and non-distracting.
- I do not recommend going for a professional tan. A spray tan may look good in person, but the camera is more sensitive to skin tones, and your natural color is always more flattering in photographs.
- For hair, you may be more comfortable with having it professionally done, or you may be more comfortable doing it yourself. Whichever you choose, it is crucial that you feel beautiful and confident.
- For makeup, many brides choose to have their makeup trial done the day of the shoot. This is a great option, and professional makeup photographs really well.
